Reverend Amy Dunn is from the Richmond, VA neighborhood and first began a career in Chaplaincy in 2004 at the VCU Health System, where she completed her first Clinical Pastoral Education unit. She continued as a PRN chaplain with VCUHS until 2007. She completed a year of Chaplain Residency at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Sentara Southside Hospitals, in Norfolk, VA in 2008. Amy’s career in Chaplaincy includes working at Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, both in Norfolk VA; Inova Fairfax Medical Campus in Fairfax VA and Bon Secours Health System, Richmond VA. Amy has also been a lead pastor in two UMC churches.
She came back to the VCU Health System in 2025, to serve in the role of Team Lead Chaplain for VCU Children’s Hospital (CHoR), and Affiliate Instructor for the Patient Counseling Program with the VCU College of Health Professions. Amy obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in 2005. She was endorsed for hospital ministry in 2008, and ordained in 2012 with the United Methodist Church and became a Board Certificated Chaplain in 2015. Amy enjoys spending time with her family and backyard chickens.
